Pull of the Crowd: Helping kids stand strong against peer pressure

PRESENTED BY SHERI GAZITT, TEEN WISE

May 20, 6:30pm EST

Peer pressure can feel intense during adolescence, even for kids who know better. This presentation helps parents understand why peer influence has such a strong impact and what’s really happening beneath the surface.

Parents will gain practical strategies to help their kids navigate social pressure with confidence, strengthen their sense of identity, and make choices that align with their values. We’ll also explore how loneliness and the need to belong can increase vulnerability, and how positive connection can act as a protective factor. A powerful session for any parent who wants to support their child in building confidence, resilience, and healthy boundaries.

We will cover:
• Why peer pressure hits so hard in adolescence
• The science behind the teenage brain
• The role of loneliness and belonging
• Negative vs. positive peer influence
• Strengthening identity, confidence, and boundaries
